Step by step guide to install WakeUpSales CRM Open Source Edition on CentOS.

This procedure describes the installation of WakeUpSales CRM v4.0 with MySQL storage on CentOS. It works just fine with CentOS v7.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Pre-installed or Fresh installation of CentOS
  2. Single, working network connection with a fixed IP address.
  3. RAM: 2GB

Expected time for Installation:

45 mins to 1 hour *(under expert supervision)

Environment Setup

Software to download before starting the installation of WakeUpSales CRM:

  1. Ruby-2.0.0
  2. Rails-3.2.12
  3. MySQL (Database)

Follow the steps to install WakeUpSales CRM Open Source Edition in CentOS Environment:

  1. Step 1: Download WakeUpSales CRM

  2. Step 2: Update

    • First of all, run a quick update to make sure that all of the packages are up to date: yum update

    • Run the following command to install the dependency packages: yum groupinstall -y 'development tools' screenshot
      To install RVM, open terminal and type following commands: curl -L get.rvm.io | bash -s stable
      curl -sSL https://rvm.io/mpapis.asc | gpg2 --import -
      curl -L get.rvm.io | bash -s stable
      source /etc/profile.d/rvm.sh
    • To load RVM, run the following command: rvm reload

    • In order to work, RVM has some of its own dependencies that need to be installed. You need to run the following command to automatically install them: rvm requirements

  3. Step 3: Install Ruby

    • Install the ruby version-2.0.0. by running the following command in the console terminal: rvm install 2.0.0

    • Now, it installs all the required stuffs for ruby-2.0.0. You can check by typing: rvm list

  4. Step 4: Use the Installed Ruby

    • Use the installed ruby version by typing: rvm use ruby-2.0.0

  5. Step 5: Install MySQL

    • If MySQL is not installed in your system, run the following commands to install it: yum install wget screenshot
      sudo rpm -ivh mysql57-community-release-el7-9.noarch.rpm
      yum install mysql-server
    • Go to the WakeUpSales application folder path
      (for example: /var/www/html/wakeupsales_opensource_crm/railscrm) and navigate to the config folder.

    • Open the database.yml file to set the username and password of your MySQL.
  6. Step 6: Run the Bundle

    • Go to the WakeUpSales project folder path using the following command:
      (For example:cd/var/www/html/wakeupsales_opensource_crm/railscrm)
    • Run the command: bundle . It will install the following:
      • The rails version
      • The gems
      • Their dependency gem files also.
      Note: You might get an error message like "bundle command not found".
      If you do, run the following command: gem install bundler
    • Now, run the following command: bundle install
    • You might get the following error while running the bundle install: “An error occurred while installing mysql2 (0.3.18), and bundler cannot continue. Make sure that `gem install mysql2 -v '0.3.18'` succeeds before bundling”
    • If you do, run the following command: yum install mysql-devel
      Note: You might get another error message
    • Go to the gem file and add this line at the bottom of the Gemfile: gem 'liquid', '3.0.6'
    • Now, run the following command: bundle install

  7. Step 7: Create the Database

    • Once bundle is executed successfully, create the database by using the following command: rake db:create screenshot
  8. Step 8

    • Populate all the tables required for the app by running the following command: rake db:migrate

    • In order to login, you need to create a user by running the following command: rake db:seed

  10. Step 10

    • Now to start the server, run the following command: rails s
      *Note: Here default port is 3000.
    • Browse the WakeUpSales CRM website by typing: http://YourIPaddress:3000 or server IP address or the domain name.
      For example:
      Now you have to enter your email id and password to create an Admin and start using WakeUpSales CRM.
    Voila! The WakeUpSales CRM is successfully installed on your system.
